Where is the Archaeological Evidence For Jesus?

If Jesus really existed, where is all of the archaeological evidence? Not textual evidence but monuments, coins, and other artifacts from Jesus’ lifetime that prove Jesus was a historical figure?

There are some early archaeological evidence for Jesus, but not during his lifetime. This article by Peter S. Williams shares some of that evidence.

Is this a problem? Is the lack of archaeological evidence a reason to doubt Jesus’ historicity?

What we all need to realize is that very few people in history have archaeological evidence. Those that we do have evidence for are usually kings and other people of political or economic power. Something that Jesus was not.

To put things in perspective, it was only in 1961 that we first found archaeological evidence for Pontius Pilate. You can read an article about the archaeological evidence for Pilate here.

The bottom line is a demand for archaeological evidence for an individual to be historical is not realistic.
