What If the Jesus Myth Was True?

What would happen if the Jesus Myth Theory was true? What if Mythicists were correct that the sources we have for Jesus are not sufficient for us to hold to a historical figure?

It would mean the end of Christianity as we know it. Although there are some who attempt to hold to a Christianity without a historical Christ, claiming that was the way it was in the beginning.

But there is more.

If what we have is considered to be not enough for historical attestation, this would have to be applied to all ancient figures. There is no logical reason to have these standards for only one historical figure.

If we held those same standards to other historical figures, most of them would not meet it. Considering we have better historical evidence for Jesus than most other figures, we would have to shift much of what we now consider to be ancient history into the genre of mythology.

We would have to admit that we know almost nothing about ancient history. Everything would be called into question.

I wonder of Mythicists realize what they are saying when they say Jesus never existed.

What if we were to reverse that and accept little to no evidence on all the outstanding historical figures that we know of, how many of them would fall out of mythology into factual characters? Have you thought about that too?
