The Jesus Myth and the Problem of Acts

Jesus Mythicists see Jesus as being unhistorical. But how much of the New Testament is unhistorical?

They would say Jesus was not historical but what about Paul? What about Peter, John and James?

Some see all of the Twelve as mythical but Paul as historical. But what happens when you have Peter and John interacting with James and Paul?

The Book of Acts is especially a problem for Mythicists. It starts with Jesus and the Twelve. The first part is about the ministry of Peter. Is Peter a friend of Jesus or is he not? What about Paul and his interactions with other historical figures.

Luke writes Acts as one story, with Jesus’s ascension moving right through to Paul’s arrival in Rome.

Where does the myth end and the history start? And if they say it is all myth, how do we explain where it overlaps with history? What about where it overlaps with Paul’s letters?

It really looks like Luke thought he was writing history in Acts and that it continues the life of Jesus he wrote in the Gospel.

This is a problem for the Jesus Myth Theory.
