Mythicists will list certain ancient god-men and state that they were born of a virgin, crucified and resurrected. Just. Like. Jesus.
I have dealt with the virgin birth here.
When a mythicist claims that some “parallel” figure was crucified, it is important to back and check the facts.
For example, I was told by one mythicist that Horus was crucified, strengthening his similarities to Jesus. I assumed there would be some story, at least similar to crucifixion. However, what I found was that Horus as a child was left by himself and was stung by a scorpion. That is far from a crucifixion.
Some of the other “parallels” were dismembered (remember that Gospels stress that Jesus never even had his legs broken. Others died from castration. I have not found anything similar to a crucifixion.
The bottom line is don’t take someone’s (including me) word for it. Go and check out the sources yourself.
