One of my favourite podcasts to listen to is The Rest is History, hosted by Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook. It is a generally informative and entertaining podcast on a diverse selection of historical topics.
Two of their recent episodes tackled the historicity of Jesus. What I appreciated about this is that neither of these historians identify as Christians. They do not have a religious bias that requires them to accept that Jesus was a historical figure.
In these episodes, presented primarily by Tom Holland, they look at Jesus the way they look at any historical figures. They examine the sources and interpret them the way they would any other ancient sources.
I do not agree with all of Holland’s conclusions and that is okay. The point is that there is very good reason to believe that Jesus existed and they demonstrate why this is the most common sense conclusion.
