Are those who insist that Jesus actually existed just brainwashed religious fanatics who are too afraid to question their pastors and priests? Not at all. In fact one does not need to be a Christian to reject the Jesus Myth Theory.
An example of that is Tim O’Neill. You can read about him here. The short story is that he is an atheist from Australia and that he is interested in history.
He has a number of posts on his blog on the Jesus Myth. The one that I would like to point you to is called: DID JESUS EXIST? THE JESUS MYTH THEORY, AGAIN.
Tim and I would have a number of disagreements about who Jesus is. But what I appreciate his article is that approaches the question not as an atheist needing to get a shot at Christians but a person trying to sort through the historical evidence in a rational way.
Tim provides a convincing argument that a historical Jesus did indeed exist. Take a look at his article and perhaps point other atheists who happen to be Mythicists there as well.
