One of the pagan figures that is often put forward by Jesus mythicists as a source for the Jesus of the Gospels is that of Adonis. Adonis is part of Greek mythology, with his story being given in Ovid’s Metamorphoses.

However, he is based on earlier near eastern myths. Those with a bit of knowledge of Hebrew will recognize Adonai as the word for lord. We will look at some of those earlier myths in another episode. For now, we will focus on Adonis.

Mythicists point out a virgin birth, as well as a death and resurrection. But is that accurate? In this episode of the podcast, we will look at the possible parallels between Jesus and Adonis.
