New Atheism

The New Atheism is not about new arguments against the existence of God but a new aggressiveness and intolerance toward religion in general, especially Christianity. It seems to have been ignited by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Religion was no longer seen as just false, it was now seen as dangerous. The expansion of the internet and atheist blogs and websites also has played a role. There is more of a popular platform for atheism.

The so-called “four horsemen of the new atheism” have been identified as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris and Daniel Dennett. While not fully embracing Jesus Mythicism, some of them have demonstrated some sympathy towards it.
